  16. We are pleased to announce the availability of Version 2 of Jcon.
  17.  
  18. Jcon is a new Java-based implementation of the Icon programming language.
  19. The Jcon translator, written in Icon, generates Java class files that
  20. execute in conjunction with a run-time system written in Java. 
  21.  
  22. Version 2 of Jcon is an essentially complete implementation of Icon,
  23. including graphics and large integers. A few minor features are missing
  24. -- mostly things like chdir() that cannot be done in Java. 
  25.  
  26. The performance of Version 2 is considerably improved over Version 1,
  27. although it still isn't as fast as the standard Icon interpreter.
